A new residential development taking shape along the Gowanus Canal is set to bring hundreds of apartments, dedicated arts space and new waterfront amenities to the neighborhood.

The Majestic, a 225-unit apartment building being developed by Domain Companies, will feature many apartments with private terraces overlooking the canal. The project is also being marketed as a destination for both residents and local creatives, with community-focused spaces planned at the base of the building.

"Majestic will also feature 3200 feet of Gowanus Mixed Use and Arts Gowanus, spaces," said Jason Hill, Director of Marketing for Domain Companies. "Ensuring that Gowanus creators and makers can stay in the neighborhood, as well as, again, residents and those artists can access the waterfront."

In addition to its arts and community spaces, the development will offer a range of amenities for residents, including a lounge, coworking space, skyline dining room, game room, golf simulator, pet spa and children's playroom.

Hill said the building will include approximately 10,000 square feet of indoor amenities, along with outdoor gathering areas.

"Its indoor amenities consist of about 10,000 feet of indoor amenities - additionally, we'll have an interior courtyard which will have a beautiful landscape green area for residents to also enjoy," Hill said.

The project is also expected to benefit from nearby park investments that developers say will enhance access to green space and waterfront views.

"We have Thomas Green Park, which will be revitalized very soon and on the west side of the building will be a 1.6-acre park that will bring a lot of green space in front of the building and really help preserve the view long term for our residents," Hill said.

Developers expect The Majestic to open in 2027, adding new housing, arts space and recreational amenities to the rapidly changing Gowanus waterfront.
