An 80-year-old woman was fatally struck by an SUV on the sidewalk in Brownsville, police say.

The woman was hit by the Lexus RX 350 near East 92nd Street and Rutland Road just before 1:30 p.m. Friday.

Family members on scene identified the victim as Yvette James. They say she lived just down the block from the crash site.

According to the NYPD, a 63-year-old woman was driving the Lexus and making a right-hand turn from Rutland Road onto East 92nd Street when she drove onto the sidewalk.

The driver narrowly missed a building and crashed through a sign before striking James.

Police say paramedics pronounced the 80-year-old dead on the scene.

The 63-year-old remained on site after the crash, according to the NYPD. News 12 cameras captured the driver's damaged white Lexus on the sidewalk, surrounded by crime scene tape.

A second person was taken to Brookdale Hospital. The extent of their injuries was not immediately made available.
