An 80-year-old man was fatally struck by an SUV while he was walking on the sidewalk in Brownsville, police say,
The man was hit by the Lexus RX 350 near East 92nd Street and Rutland Road just before 1:30 p.m. Friday.
According to the NYPD, a 63-year-old woman was driving the Lexus when she made a right-hand turn from East 92nd Street onto Rutland Road and drove onto the sidewalk, colliding with the man.
Police say paramedics pronounced the 80-year-old dead on the scene.
A second person was taken to Brookdale Hospital. The extent of their injuries was not immediately made available.
