A major sinkhole continues to disrupt traffic in Brownsville one week after opening.
A stretch of Livonia Avenue near Watkins Street remains partially blocked off. Crews have been on the scene since it happened, making repairs.
Residents say it's not the first time a sinkhole has popped up in the area, leaving some wondering if the street will ever be safe.
"I don't understand. Like, they repair the street, but why is it sinking so fast?" asked one resident. "They repairing it or they just rushing jobs on it?"
A spokesperson for the New York City Department of Environmental Protection told News 12 that crews and an emergency contractor continue to excavate the site as repairs are underway.
There's no word on when the sinkhole will be fully repaired, but DEP previously noted it could take a couple of weeks.
