Local officials are urging residents to stay hydrated and inside if possible amid extremely high temperatures and humidity.

“I feel just like home, like I am in South America, because it's so hot," said Manolo Pajaro, who is visiting Coney Island from Colombia.

Many beachgoers at the Coney Island boardwalk were finding different ways to cool off.

“Stay hydrated. Unce you hydrated, you’re good to go,” said Flatbush resident Lynn Germain.

“A quick dip, leave and go home,” Bath Beach resident Frank Petito said.

Residents in Norwalk, Connecticut were wishing for a body of water to swim in.

“I'd like to go jump in a pool right now, but I'm working," hotdog vendor Mark Delguidice said.

In Yonkers, people were out enjoying the hot weather, but still thinking of ways to beat the heat.

“Either stay inside with the AC or my complex has a pool,” Mike Magrone said.

The extreme heat is expected to last through Friday.
