An 18-year-old man has died in Crown Heights apartment explosion Friday evening, according to the NYPD and FDNY.
Firefighters responded to a 911 call for an explosion at the Albany Houses located at 162 Troy Ave. at 7:04 p.m.
The explosion created heavy fire and smoke that firefighters battled until it was extinguished at 7:56 p.m.
The fire was on the twelfth floor of the 14-story building.
A total of 38 units and 120 FDNY and EMS personnel responded to the scene.
EMS transported the man to Interfaith Medical Center in critical condition, where he was pronounced dead.
A hazmat unit was requested to the scene.
The cause remains under investigation.
The identity of the victim has not yet been released.
