A 29-year-old man is dead after an early morning motorcycle crash in Brooklyn.
Police say it happened around 4 a.m. Tuesday on Pitkin Avenue near Saratoga Avenue. The man was riding a Suzuki motorcycle west on Pitkin Avenue when he collided with a Ford Fusion heading the same way.
The impact threw the rider from his bike. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Pieces of the motorcycle and even a pair of sneakers were scattered across the sidewalk, stretching to a nearby B7 bus shelter.
Police say the driver of the Ford was taken into custody. Charges are still pending as investigators work to figure out what led to the crash.
Neighbors say motorcycle traffic has been a problem on the block.
“It’s very unfortunate for that to happen,” said Brownsville resident Cuthbert Thomas. “Some of these bikes—you can’t hear them coming, and it causes problems.”
The victim’s name has not yet been released.
