Three businesses burned down and six firefighters were injured in a blaze that broke out on Linden Boulevard Tuesday afternoon.
According to Fire Chief Edward Kilduff, the fire started in a vent inside a Laundromat. It then spread to a next door grocery store on one side, and to Chase bank on the other.
Some 140 firefighters who arrived at the scene of the three-alarm fire attacked the flames from the front and the back, leaving the street flooded with water. It took them two hours to put out the flames.
The smell of smoke, which hung over the site of the fire, could be felt as far as six blocks away.
No fatalities were reported.
