The Easter holiday took a tragic turn for three Brooklyn families Sunday as three infant girls were pronounced dead within hours and miles of each other.
The mother of 4-month-old Summer Pinckney found blood dripping from her daughter's mouth as her family prepared to attend Easter services. Police found the girl unresponsive when they arrived at her Montaulk Avenue home shortly before 9 a.m. She was later pronounced dead at Brookdale Hospital.
Three hours later, 4-month-old Briana Russell was found unconscious in her crib at her Prospect Place apartment. She was later pronounced dead at Kings County Hospital.
Just hours after that, 3-month-old Alyssa Sanford was found not breathing at her Autumn Avenue home.
Medical examiners are investigating the causes of death in all three cases. Police say that the deaths do not appear to be related and no foul play is suspected at this time.
