Three track and field champions from Brooklyn were honored as Sports Illustrated's Sports Kid of the Year Monday evening at Barclays Center.
The Sheppard sisters -- Brooke, 11, Rainn, 10, and Tai, 9 -- are no strangers to winning. Back in July, the sisters participated in the Junior Olympics in Houston and brought back some gold with them.
The sisters used to live in a homeless shelter with their mom. The girls say winning this award is a huge honor they worked hard to achieve.
Other athletes honored were LeBron James and Michael Phelps.
