A fire broke out at a five-story apartment building in Bedford Park, injuring three people and causing significant damage to a second-floor apartment.
At least five windows were shattered while the FDNY worked to contain the blaze.
The aftermath was evident – walls in one room were entirely covered in soot, while other rooms had shattered glass windows.
The fire began just after 12 p.m. on Friday at 3224 Grand Concourse. In a Citizen video captured at the scene, a fire truck can be seen arriving as smoke poured from the apartment.
Residents told News 12 that the building’s superintendent attributed the cause of the fire to a stove.
EMS treated two individuals at the scene for minor injuries, and a third person was transported to a hospital for chest pain.
The building, which contains over 100 units, was spared from further damage as the fire was contained to the second-floor apartment.
A sign posted at the building entrance encourages residents in need of assistance to contact the Red Cross.
An official cause of the fire has not yet been detailed.
