Three Rikers Island corrections officers were indicted Thursday afternoon for their alleged involvement in the death of an 18-year-old inmate.
Christopher Robinson, who was at the Rikers Island correctional facility on a parole violation, was kicked and beaten to death last October by a dozen inmates.
According to the district attorney, corrections officers Denise Albright, Khalid Nelson and Michael McKie encouraged and trained inmates to fight and hurt each other.
McKie?s attorney, however, insists that the accusation is a ?web of lies? strung together by inmates.
All three officers pleaded not guilty to conspiracy, assault and grand larceny charges. The judge set a $200,000 bail for McKie and Nelson, and $50,000 for Albright.
The victim?s mother, Charnel Robinson, is suing the city for $20 million in damages for the death of her only son.
