The 30th Celebrate Brooklyn concert series kicked off Thursday night with a performance by Isaac Hayes at Prospect Park, one of 25 free outdoor shows this season.
Celebrate Brooklyn will bring artists from around the music spectrum to Prospect Park from 18 different countries and feature a night of theater and four film nights, says Walsh.
Walsh calls the summer series a broadly diverse event that has helped to influence the borough over the past 30 years.
"When we started 30 years ago, Brooklyn was a different place and diversity landscape," says Walsh. "I like to think we've contributed to the renaissance of Brooklyn."
Organizers expect 250,000 spectators to come out for this year's series.
