NYC Emergency Management issues travel advisory through weekend

New York City Emergency Management has issued a travel advisory from Friday through Sunday.

The agency urges the public to prepare for potential heavy rain, coastal flooding and wind gusts of 40 to 50 mph.

Mamdani offers safety tips ahead of nor’easter

New York City agencies and officials are urging people to be cautious ahead of the nor’easter.

Mayor Zohran Mamdani encourages those who live near the coast to move cars to higher ground or away from streets prone to flooding.

He also says to secure outdoor items such as furniture and garbage containers.

A waterproof bag containing medications, a flashlight, batteries, portable chargers and important documents can help in the event of an emergency.

Residents are advised to limit travel during periods of heavy rain. Those who must travel should never walk or drive through floodwaters.

Officials also urge the public to stay indoors during periods of high wind due to hazards such as downed powerlines.

Third Avenue Fest and Atlantic Antic rescheduled due to nor’easter
