4-alarm fire breaks out in Fordham apartment building

Firefighters doused a four-alarm fire that spread through an apartment building in the Fordham section of the Bronx early this morning.
The fast-moving fire started on the first floor of the building at 2230 Grand Concourse before it spread to the top floors. Over 168 firefighters and EMS personal responded to the scene.
A firefighter was injured and dozens of residents were evacuated. 
The fire was placed under control around 5 a.m.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
The fire department is assessing the extent of the damage. There is a vacate order from the Department of Buildings for the affected units.
The Red Cross says it has provided affected families with emergency housing and financial assistance.
