A car drove right into the water early Thursday in Patchogue Bay and News 12 crews were there to help call first responders to the rescue.

The car drove into the water on South Ocean Avenue around 4:59 a.m.

News 12 reporter Caroline Flynn and photographer Sue Caron were at the scene when the incident happened.

It happened in a split second, and Caron saw the man back up and then drive into the water.

"I thought he was backing up into the spot to watch the sunrise. It looked like he was making a u-turn to leave and he drove into the water," said Caron.

The News 12 crew immediately called 911 and police were on the scene within two minutes.

Police say Nestor Riosarvealo was rescued by police officer Edward Pitre, along with Patchogue Fire Department member Peter Feehan.

"He was very worried, the water was rising, he couldn't get the doors open, he saw no way out," Feehan says.

Pitre and Feehan jumped into the water, broke one of the car's windows, pulled Riosarvealo, 33, out of the car and brought him to shore.

"He was clinging to them for dear life as they got out," Flynn says.

Riosarvealo, Pitre and Feehan were brought to the hospital, treated for minor injuries and released.
