$400K in stolen religious texts returned to Bay Ridge synagogue
Stolen religious books worth $400,000 were finally returned to a synagogue in Bay Ridge.
News 12 is told no money was exchanged in return for the 96 religious texts. Instead, the thief that lifted them from the synagogue on 12th Avenue in April agreed to return the books if he could escape charges.
Police charged 34-year-old Aron Gross on April 5 with the burglary, but the books remained missing until Friday.
The synagogue's rabbi says security cameras were recently installed to prevent any similar crimes from happening.
