The Brooklyn district attorney announced a takedown of a heroin trafficking ring based in South Williamsburg that sold and distributed the drug in all five boroughs.
The ring was allegedly headed by 24-year-old Josie Tavera with help from five other family members.
The DA says the heroin epidemic is no longer only a suburban issue and is spreading to urban areas such as Brooklyn.
A total of 24 of the 25 defendants have already been arrested. The DA expects the last person will be in custody soon.
