Six people, including former employees of a Bronx hotel, are facing charges in a child sex trafficking and prostitution ring.
Bronx District Attorney Darcel Clark says the former employees of the hotel were paid to turn a blind eye to illegal activity in hotel rooms.
Clark says 16 females were trafficked at the Seven Days Hotel on Bruckner Boulevard in the Bronx from August 2019 to November 2022, adding that nearly half of them were minors.
The investigations by the Bronx DA’s Human Trafficking Unit and the NYPD Vice Human Trafficking Team claim Akeem Lee, Marvin Flint and Anthony Reyes were at the core of a three-year prostitution ring inside the hotel.
The district attorney’s office says that the hotel manager, front desk clerk and security guard aided in the prostitution by giving discounted room rates in exchange for cash. One undercover NYPD officer claimed to witness the hotel staff neglecting to check the IDs of the alleged pimps and sex workers checking into the hotel.
The hotel also failed to post a human trafficking victims hotline number inside, which is required by New York state law.
The indictment contained 80 charges. Those charges include enterprise corruption, endangering the welfare of a child, promoting prostitution, sex trafficking and rape.
News 12 reached out to the owner of the independently owned Seven Days Hotel, who said they had no idea this was taking place and that the employees allegedly involved are no longer working there.
All six suspects are due back in court in May.
