Six women are among more than 300 graduates of the latest class of the FDNY Academy.
"I can proudly say that more women serve as New York City firefighters today than at any point in our history," says FDNY Commissioner Daniel Nigro.
The women join 58 current female FDNY firefighters as the city moves to diversify the department.
"We're really trying to look more like the city that we work in," Nigro says. "And with each class, we are doing that."
