New video released shows a pickup truck running a red light and crashing at the intersection of Route 1 and Whispering Road in South Brunswick, leaving eight people injured, including three minors who were riding in the vehicle's bed, police said.

The crash occurred Tuesday night toward the end of the evening rush, with the truck flipping over but landing upright, according to authorities.

One person was seriously hurt, while the other seven sustained varying injuries and are recovering.

The footage captures the moment the pickup, carrying three minors in its bed, collided with other vehicles after disregarding the traffic signal.

South Brunswick police are urging witnesses to contact them as the investigation continues, with Traffic Safety Officer Trevor Michie available at 732-329-4000, ext. 7472.
