Police say there have been eight deaths since Jan. 24, and sources say they were all found outside.

Police originally discovered five deaths on Jan. 24.

They say two bodies were discovered in Brooklyn, another was discovered in Queens. Two others were discovered in Manhattan.

A sixth body was discovered in Queens around 10:30 a.m. on Sunday.

Police have confirmed two more people were found dead, including one in The Bronx and the other in Brooklyn.

The deaths occurred amid plummeting temperatures, which prompted a citywide Code Blue alert from Saturday until Tuesday, Jan 27. at 8 a.m.

The New York City Office of Emergency Management's First Deputy Commissioner Christina Farrell says with more cold temperatures this week, New Yorkers should still be cautious.

“It can hit you very quickly and sometimes with weather-related extreme weather you don’t realize you’re having problems until it’s very late in the process. Enjoy mother nature, but in very short stints," said Farrell.

Mayor Zohran Mamdani reacted to the news on X Saturday, saying in part, “it is a reminder that every year New Yorkers succumb to the cold. The danger of this weather cannot be overstated.”

Police say that a medical examiner is working to determine the official cause of the deaths.
