89-year-old Borough Park man struck by work van, in critical condition

Residents told News 12 that the intersection is known for aggressive driving and jaywalking and was already under a modified traffic pattern due to nearby construction.

An 89-year-old man is in critical condition after being struck by a work van in Borough Park.

It happened in the intersection of 16th Avenue and 46th Street.

Police received a call around 11:40 a.m. about a man on the ground after he came into contact with the van as it was turning. The 35-year-old driver stayed at the scene and was not arrested.

The man was taken to Maimonides Hospital.

The intersection currently has a four-way traffic-light signal, but no daylighting on the corners.
