An 89-year-old woman died following an assault inside a Coney Island nursing home, the NYPD confirms.

Police responded to a 911 call at approximately 10:27 p.m. Sunday at 3015 West 29th Street, inside Seagate Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.

When officers arrived, they found the woman suffering from severe head trauma. They say she was hit in the head with a metal object.

A police source says she was lying in bed when she was struck, and there was heavy bleeding when first responders arrived.

The woman was taken to NYU Langone Hospital in Brooklyn, where she was pronounced dead just after 5:30 a.m. Monday.

Records show the nursing home has had 106 complaints since 2021. The facility is also facing a class-action lawsuit alleging dangerous understaffing that puts residents at risk.

Seagate Rehabilitation and Nursing Center did not respond to multiple requests to comment.

Investigators are still trying to determine what led to the attack and whether the victim knew the person responsible.
