Organizers of a new awareness campaign say they hope to increase love, acceptance and support for the city's LGBT youth.
Annette Cottler says her sister threw her son out of her home when she learned he was gay, so Cottler took him in.
Now, she says she serves as a role model for Project ALY, which promotes parental support for children who question their sexuality.
Activists say that acceptance by family and friends plays a tremendous role in the health of young LGBT people.
They say that children in families that reject them suffer high rates of homelessness, substance abuse and HIV infection.
