Community activists rallied in Crown Heights Thursday against a planned major development that would create a mixed-use high-rise.
Activists from the Movement to Protect the People are pushing back against the plan that would create over 1,000 housing units, half of them being affordable, at 9-60 Franklin Ave. They argue the affordable units would still be too expensive for longtime community members
The group also called out Councilwoman Laurie Cumbo and Assemblyman Walter Mosley for failing to meet with them about the project.
Mosley's office didn't get back to News 12, but Cumbo's office says the councilwoman welcomes any open discussion on affordable housing.
Cumbo blasted the group in an op-ed earlier this month, saying it has consistently disrupted any meaningful conversation or plans to address the housing crisis.
