Community advocates say robberies and muggings are on the rise in downtown Brooklyn and are calling for a task force to deal with the problem.
Police have been investigating a string of robberies in the past few weeks in Park Slope and say they see a pattern in the type of crime.
?The biggest thing is we are going to be working for the police department. We are going to work with the precinct council presidents, the commanding officers of the precincts, and people from our community,? says advocate Anthony Herbert.
The concerned residents also say they want to re-introduce the community police program, which is an initiative where police patrol areas on foot.
Police tell News 12 Brooklyn that despite the robberies, overall crime in the 84th Precinct has continued to decline.
