30ds agoSpotted lanternflies have returned and are threatening to destroy New Jersey’s agriculture this summer.
The New Jersey Department of Agriculture says that most of New Jersey is in a quarantine zone when it comes to the insects. Officials with the department say that anyone who sees a spotted lanternfly should kill it on sight.

The insect has the capacity to greatly impact new Jersey’s agricultural crops and hardwood trees. Their excrement also promotes mold growth.
The state is asking anyone who finds a spotted lanternfly to report it using the state’s reporting tool.
