4h agoA paving project on Route 59 between routes 303 and 9W is set to begin tonight.
Expected to last five nights, state Department of Transportation crews will be on site around 8 p.m., and paving is scheduled to start by 10 p.m. and finish by 6 a.m.
The paving schedule is as follows:
Night one (Aug. 22): DOT will be starting on the Eastbound Right Lane and will pull from Route 303 to Route 9W.
Night two (Aug. 23): DOE will pave on the Eastbound Left Lane but will pull from Route 9W to Route 303.
Nights three and four (Aug. 24 and 25): It will be the same process but on the Westbound Lanes.
The DOT will close both lanes on eastbound nights one and two and both lanes on westbound nights three and four to accommodate DOT vehicles and equipment.
Route 59 will be closed completely in the work zone, with the exception of the I-287 intersection, which will have a flagger to direct traffic through.
The lanes that are not shutting down each night will be diverted to one lane in each direction.
Access will be maintained at all times, but delays are to be expected.
The Village of Nyack is planning to repave Main Street from Route 9W to Franklin Street in the fall, contingent on a drainage improvement project completion.
