Police confirm a 23-year-old man is dead after being shot by police in Crown Heights.
The man originally fired shots at his child?s mother's home on President Street when he was denied entry. Police say he got into a stolen Dodge Charger and subsequently crashed it.
Police say the suspect then tried to steal a Nissan Maxima with three people in it. The car managed to get away. However, the suspect shot at the car and ended up hitting the driver of another vehicle.
According to police, the suspect began to flee on foot and then stole a livery cab. He crashed it as well. When EMS workers responded, he pointed a gun at them, say police. Police later arrived and the suspect began shooting at them. The suspect exchanged fire with police and was shot.
The suspect was taken to Kings County Hospital and later died. The driver that was shot was also taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Officials say they are investigating the shooting and carjacking incidents.
