Animal control officers rescue injured swan stranded in dam at Musconetcong Lake
Animal control officers were able to rescue a distressed swan from the dam at Musconetcong Lake in Netcong on Thursday.
The officers received a call from Netcong police about a swan that appeared to be injured and unable to fly. St. Hubert’s Animal Welfare officials say that the officers attempted several times to get the swan, but its location under a bridge on the dam made it difficult.
Officials say that the officers worked together with Netcong police and the Netcong Fire Department and were able to rescue the swan after several hours.
The swan was taken to the Raptor Trust for treatment and rehabilitation. Officials say that once the swan is better, it will likely be released into a safe location close to where it was found.
