An anti-violence rally was held outside the Barclays Center prior to Jay-Z's opening night concert, as protesters hoped to get their message across to the crowds waiting to get inside.
Two hours before the show began, the group wheeled two coffins in front of the arena, saying it was a familiar sight for them and their neighbors. Some onlookers arriving for the concert say they found the display disturbing, and police eventually moved the group away from the arena.
The group says they were not protesting the arena or the concert, but that they wanted to reach as many people as possible. They say they hope their demonstration will influence others to get involved and stop the violence.
