A lockdown has been lifted at a middle school in Bushwick after police say they apprehended an armed man nearby.
According to police, there was a dispute between a 44-year-old man and his uncle, 48-year-old Gregory McCray, at around 8:30 a.m. Thursday. They say McCray pulled out a gun and fired one shot before going into 108 Covert St., which is located by I.S. 296.
A hostage negotiation team and other emergency responders were on the scene for hours trying to get the suspect to come out. The school was placed on a lockdown as a precaution through the ordeal.
Authorities eventually were able to take McCray into custody. No injuries were reported.
