The Clarkstown Police Department arrested a man who they say robbed a Chase Bank in Nanuet late Sunday morning.

Officers took 22-year-old James L. Gordon, of Nanuet, into custody around 20 minutes after he allegedly carried out the crime inside 61 Smith St.

The bank teller told investigators that at approximately 11 a.m. the accused robber said he had a gun and demanded money. Just one minute later they said Gordon ran from the bank - it is unclear if he stole any cash.

Investigators say officers located Gordon at around 11:20 a.m. behind 122 Rt. 59, just over half a mile away from the bank.

He is charged with robbery, grand larceny and menacing.

Gordon was arraigned in the Town of Clarkstown Justice Court and his bail was set at $50,000 cash or a $100,000 bond. He was being held at the Rockland County Jail as of Sunda.
