A New York City artist has set up an interactive exhibit highlighting the benefits of self-sustainable living. Constructed in Van Cortlandt Park, the biosphere project is a mobile home that essentially runs itself. It collects water using a filter, grows plants, stores waste and generates electricity with solar panels. Founder Mary Mattingly, who says the home of the future costs around $3,000, says she built the structure in the park to make it more accessible to the public. The display will remain in The Bronx through Aug. 15.
