The president and vice-president of a Bushwick Associated Supermarket were arraigned Thursday morning on charges that they falsified business records, filed fake state documents, defrauded employees and paid them illegal wages.
The two men, Bienvenido Nunez and Martin Duran, owned the supermarket at 229 Knickerbocker Ave. Workers there say the men cheated them out of their pay for years.
State Attorney General Andrew Cuomo has filed a $600,000 lawsuit on behalf of the 30 workers who, for over a year, have demonstrated outside of the supermarket demanding fair pay and a better work environment.
