Babylon officials declare state of emergency after violence, vandalism at Tanger Outlets

The town of Babylon is under a state of emergency after violence and vandalism broke out at the carnival at the Tanger Outlets.
News 12 is told three people had to go to the hospital with minor injuries after fights broke out. The carnival has been ordered to close at 7 p.m. as a result.
The carnival operator says it has added extra security, but will be losing money for itself and the kidney disease charity sponsor due to the forced early closure.
Town officials say the early closure Saturday night seems to have worked and there were no additional incidents. Supervisor Rich Shaffer says the town is re-evaluating nighttime carnivals.
The carnival will be moving to Levittown. The operator says it will be increasing security there as well and work with Nassau County police to make sure everyone is safe.
