Buttermilk Bakeshop in Park Slope baked Irish soda bread for St. Patrick's Day for a second year.
The simple Irish bread consists of staples such as flour, sugar, salt, baking soda and raisins. The bakery, which is owned by Katie Rosenhouse, only makes the bread on St. Patrick's Day.
Brooklyn is home to a large Irish community. Irish-American Eileen Fitzpatrick, who works at the bakery, understands how special the bread is.
"It's nice to be able to make it and not count on my grandma to make it every year," said Fitzpatrick.
Customers said they appreciated that the bakery recognizes traditional baking.
