A bandit has been caught on surveillance video stealing a woman's package in Brooklyn.

Shanice Gilkes says the discovery proves that her neighbors' packages are not safe.

Gilkes says she had a couple of packages stolen just last week and video showed the bandit walking up and swiping one off her porch.

"People used to say they got their packages stolen and I would be like no, not here," said Gilkes.

Gilkes says one of the stolen packages contained chemotherapy pills that her aunt had ordered. She had a message for the bandit saying, "if you are doing this for a living you have to stop."

The United States Postal Inspection Service says there are always thieves who target mail but there are steps customers can take to protect themselves. The Postal Service says to be safe you should inquire about any overdue mail, not send any cash, arrange for a prompt pickup, and make other plans if you can't be home to receive a package.
