From great places to shop and eat to a family-oriented community, Bay Ridge residents say their neighborhood is the best in the borough."It's secluded, yet you still have all the luxuries of shopping," resident Mary Anne Fiorentino said. Neighbors agree, saying if people can't find what they're looking for on bustling 86th Street, they probably don't need it.The area also boasts a thriving nightlife on 3rd Avenue. "It's very cosmopolitan with all the restaurants, lounges, just things to do," Gary Nudelman said of his neighborhood.
Community Board 10 Chair Josephine Beckmann feels families make the area. "Bay Ridge has great families, great ... people that invest a lot of time and energy into making this community great," Beckmann said.
Bay Ridge is also home to the iconic Verrazano Bridge, which connects Brooklyn to Staten Island. Construction of the bridge destroyed housing 40 years ago, but the structure has become a large part of the neighborhood's identity.
Many residents told News 12 Brooklyn the best way to see Bay Ridge is by foot.
