Ferry service could return to Bay Ridge after more than a 10-year hiatus.
A petition with 1,400 signatures has grabbed the attention of local officials. City Council has pledged $500,000 to help bring the ferry back to the pier.
The ferry would provide transit service from Brooklyn to Lower Manhattan and Midtown. Local officials hope the ferry will help ease congestion.
Mayor Bloomberg reportedly has considered including the ferry service with his PlaNYC.
