Two men were shot in Crown Heights late Sunday night—and one of them is now fighting for his life.
It happened just after 9:30 p.m. outside the Kingsborough Houses on Kingsborough 2nd Walk.
Police say a 22-year-old man was shot in the head. He was rushed to Kings County Hospital and is in critical condition.
A second man, 40 years old, was shot in the leg. He was taken to Interfaith Hospital by someone else and is expected to be OK.
Crime scene tape was still up Monday morning, stretching all the way to the edge of the playground in the complex. At least a dozen evidence markers were on the ground, and shell casings were seen on the sidewalk and in the street.
Officers and investigators were still at the scene hours later trying to figure out who fired the shots and why. Right now, it’s not clear if the two men knew each other.
One woman who lives nearby says the whole thing makes her worry about the younger people in the neighborhood.
"Very sad. Very sad that the young people is going so quick because every shooting is young people," said Pearl. "I have a 21 year-old that lives with me and one in Canada, and I'm always frightened for them and I pray for them every day.."
No arrests have been made as of Monday morning. The investigation is ongoing.
