A business improvement district in Bed-Stuy unveiled their pop-up winter market this weekend to help support local businesses impacted by the pandemic during this holiday season.
The Winter Wonderland pop-up shop at the corner of Marcy Avenue and Fulton Street offered customers everything from clothing to arts and crafts as holiday shopping gets underway this season.
The shop also featured several businesses from the Bed-Stuy Gateway Business Improvement District that sold their goods in the outdoor market.
Safety measures were implemented in the market to ensure safety, like temperature checks, social distancing markers on the ground and a contactless Santa Claus section where people came and took pictures.
Interim Executive Director Lynette Battle said the event aims to encourage customers to shop local this season, which is especially important this year as businesses look to make up for losses due to the pandemic.
This is the first year for the Winter Wonderland market and organizers said it's something they're hoping to continue in the future.
The shop will be held every weekend until Christmas.
