Families waited in a long line in Bensonhurst Saturday morning for the second annual “1,000 Toys for 1,000 Kids” event hosted by Council Member Susan Zhuang.

She highlighted the increased financial strains on working families in her district.

“We see food insecurity in the community this year, a lot of families just struggle to put food on the table – parents not able to buy toys," Zhuang said.
