Bensonhurst?s Jewish community spent Thursday preparing for Rosh Hashanah.
The holiday, which starts Friday, marks the beginning of the New Year on the Jewish calendar. It?s also a time for personal reflection. The Jewish Community House in Bensonhurst is turning its dining area into a synagogue. At Chiffon?s Kosher Bakery, business is booming. Customers are stocking up on traditional foods.
Many Bensonhurst residents also plan to participate in the traditional casting off of sins. They go to the bay and throw bread crumbs in water.
