A plan to create affordable housing in Williamsburg is being criticized for allegedly excluding certain groups.

Attorney Martin Needleman says his clients aren't against affordable housing, but believe the plan for Williamsburg's Broadway Triangle would discriminate against black and Hispanic residents. A suit alleges Williamsburg's Hasidic community would benefit from the housing plan because the city would give Jewish organizations the authority to develop the property.

The chief of staff for local Councilman David Yassky says the Broadway Triangle area has been underdeveloped for too long and affordable housing is needed.
