A native rapper was honored in Brooklyn earlier this week.
Big Daddy Kane received a key to Brooklyn, and a plaque on the Brooklyn Botanic Garden's Celebrity Path.
The Bed-Stuy native told the crowd, which included Borough President Eric Adams, that he feels that he has never truly left Brooklyn, and still has a 718 cellphone number.
Big Daddy Kane released his first album in 1988 called “Long Live the Kane.” In 1991, he won a Grammy award for best rap performance by a duo or group for his work on Quincy Jones' collaborative track “Back on the Block.”
He has also appeared in several television shows and movies, including “Posse,” “Meteor Man” and “Law and Order SVU.”
