Commuters faced an arctic blast of bitter cold air that is pummeling Brooklyn as temperatures are expected to dip even further below freezing.

Mayor Bill de Blasio issued a code blue warning urging New Yorkers to take the homeless off the streets and bring them inside amid freezing temperatures.
The city is currently under a wind chill advisory with temperatures expected to dip down into the single digits on Saturday and Sunday.
Brooklyn residents agreed there is really only one way to stay warm, and that's to stay inside. But if you do have to go out, they say wearing lots of layers helps.
One man walking the streets of Canarsie was seen wearing a pair of shorts.
When asked why he was wearing shorts, he replied, "I'm a native New Yorker and I'm used to the cold winters."
