Bay Ridge residents complain unsightly graffiti is a nuisance, except the graffiti is left behind on streets by contractors.
Councilman Vincent Gentile (D-43rd District) says it's a real problem. "It's marring the look of the neighborhood and it really is graffiti that we find marked on the street and sidewalk. If we're going to clean up graffiti on buildings we should clean up the streetfiti," said Gentile.
The councilman plans to introduce legislation April 11 that calls for contractors to clean up the marking they make. If companies don't comply, they would be fined up to $1,000.
