A Brooklyn factory owner has been arrested for the alleged poor treatment of employees at Tortilleria Chinantla.
Officials say Erasmo Ponce faces several charges, including underpaying employees, falsifying business records, and violating worker compensation and unemployment insurance laws.
In 2001, worker Juan Baten fell into a dough mixing machine and died, temporarily shutting down operations. The factory was then cited for workplace safety violations last July.
